Even though Jacuzzi has been innovating hydrotherapy for over 52 years, soaking in hot water for therapy has been around for over 10,000 years. Natural hot springs were therapeutic and spiritual places for peace and healing for many cultures for many years.
Jacuzzi has used this natural healing process and added more to it. In 1925 they revolutionized the pump industry. Jacuzzi was a family that developed a pump that would draw water from the ground with more efficiency than any pump. For this development in 1930 the California state them with a gold medal for there invention. This opened new methods for moving water for the whole jet pump industry.
In 1956 the Jacuzzi brothers went back to the jet pump and put their knowledge if moving water and their pump invention to help a family member. To relieve pain and aches from rheumatoid arthritis the Jacuzzi brothers used hydrotherapy in a whole new way. This is what led us to the portable hydrotherapy pump that is still known as the J300. Changing a normal bath into a relaxing, rejuvenating hydro-therapeutic spa was as easy as running the bath. They had created a niche market that created an opportunity for Jacuzzi to be welcomed into many households.
